Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup Season 2 — registrations open till July 27

The first round of season 2 of the Continental GT Cup will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway from September 16 to 18

Last year, Royal Enfield made a grand comeback into the world of motorsports with the Continental GT Cup, which was organized in partnership with JK Tyre. If you missed out on participating last year, we have some good news for you — the Continental GT Cup is coming back for a second season, and there is plenty we have to tell you about!

This time, the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup will follow a Pro-Am format which will see professional and amateur racers battle it out on the same grid. Registrations for the championship have begun from today, and will stay live till July 27. Participants will be able to register under either one of the two categories, i.e Amateur and Professional. Out of the registered participants, twenty-five professional and seventy-five amateur racers will make it to the Rider Selection Programme at Kari Motor Speedway. Based on the results of the Rider Selection Programme, the fastest twenty-five riders will progress to the race rounds, which will include ten professional and fifteen amateur riders. As part of the Pro-Am format, the top three winners from last year, Anish Damodar Shetty, Allwin Xavier, and Anfal Akdhar enter directly into this season’s Professional category.

Regarding the motorcycle, we will get to see the same race-spec Continental GT-R650, albeit with inputs from Harris Performance, such as more optimised clip-on handlebars and rear set footpegs. Other than that, the GT-R650 seems to retain the core basics from last year, featuring a stiffer suspension setup, is lighter by 24kg and puts out 12% more power than the road going GT650.

These riders will then battle it out against each other over a course of three rounds and eight races. The first two rounds will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore — the first round will be held between September 16 to 18, while the second round will be held between October 28 to 30. The final round will be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida from December 16 to 18.
