Royal Enfield Classic 350 GMA accessories review

We take a look at some of the accessories from the GMA catalogue for the new Royal Enfield Classic 350

Royal Enfield, over the last few years, has become a lot more than just a manufacturer that sells motorcycles. Once you buy your RE, there are platforms like Make It yours which allows you to customise your bike and spec it the way you want it right from day one. There’s also the GMA (Genuine Motorcycle Accessories) portal with an extensive catalogue of accessories for all the bikes in the lineup. These accessories cater to a range of different needs - from functional to aesthetic and help you set your motorcycle up for a particular use case scenario. Best of all since it’s right from RE, you don’t need to worry about voiding your warranty. Plus a lot of these products come with their own warranty as well. With that said, we got our hands on an all-new Royal Enfield Classic 350 kit with a bunch of accessories from the GMA catalogue. Let’s take a look at some of them, shall we?

Touring screen - Rs 3950

This touring screen may remind you a lot of the Machismo, and it lends the Classic a cool appearance

This screen, as the name suggests, is built for touring purposes. The screen is pretty tall, a lot taller than your standard fly screens and in all honesty, it doesn't work wonders in terms of wind deflection, especially if you're on the taller side. Aesthetically, it does lend the bike a cool look if tall screens are your style.

Silver octagon engine guard- Rs 3450

No second guesses about this one, the engine guard is a must-have

This is one of the most straightforward accessories on this list. The guard is finished in chrome and is bolted onto the new frame right ahead of the engine. The Classic 350 is a heavy bike and you don't want it falling on your leg, this would ensure that doesn't happen and more importantly, it will also protect your prized possession. It has a subtle silhouette and isn’t jarring to look at unlike some other guards in the market. This accessory is a no-brainer then.

Silver sump guard - Rs 2750

Not only does the sump guard look aesthetically pleasing, it also protects the underbody of your Classic from debris and stones

The sump guard is another functional accessory in this list that is a must-have. It's a sheet of metal bolted onto the lower portion of the frame and covers the engine and sump, keeping it safe from anything flying up at it from below. Things like stones, debris and although ground clearance is not an issue, it will also aid when taking sharp/tall speed breakers or when you go into that one pothole that you never spot until you’re in it. Even aesthetically the guard is well designed and flows well with the overall styling of the bike.

Black touring mirror - Rs 6850

These rear-view mirrors don't vibrate much but visibility may be an issue if you are slightly broader

This is a replacement for the stock rearview mirror on the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The mirrors have a solid build quality and they are mounted well, meaning that it doesn’t vibrate even when the speeds increase. However, if you are on the broader side, visibility is a bit hampered so I feel RE should sell these with an option of longer stems. At Rs 6800 these mirrors are also extremely pricey. So, if you really want to get them, make sure that it works for you in terms of visibility.

Black touring rider and pillion seat - Rs 3750 + Rs 2950

Not too hard, not too soft — these touring seats are perfectly cushione

The touring seat is meant for providing you with more comfort for days in the saddle. Something that Royal Enfields are often used for. The seats are comfortable but take some getting used to. They have a ribbed design and are nice and grippy. The seats are also well-cushioned — not too soft, not too hard and that’s exactly how a touring seat should be. You can choose to get just the rider or the pillion seat as well. But before you rush to get this upgrade, spend some time with your stock seat setup if long-distance riding is something you don’t intend on doing.

Black passenger backrest (pad plus mount) - Rs 2550

This padded passenger backrest is a must-have if your companion travels with you on a frequent basis

If you like travelling with a companion, the backrest works well in giving the pillion much needed support from the back when in the saddle for longer durations. It also helps in not unsettling the pillion under acceleration or when going over speed breakers. The mounting bracket and cushion itself are sold separately and I personally really like how this matte black design looks and it contrasts the chrome well.

Silver deluxe footpegs - Rs 2500 (set of 2)

The platform-style footpegs provide more area to rest your feet, but toe-upshifting will be an issue

These deluxe footpegs replace the stock ones and are essentially platform-style pegs. Despite there being more surface area to keep my feet, I didn't find any increase in comfort over the standard footpeg. And if like me you prefer upshifting using the toe shifter, you won’t be able to with these footpegs and you’ll be forced to use the heel shifter. They are priced at Rs 2500 for a set, but If you want the same setup for the pillion as well that’s a whopping Rs 5000 on footpegs.

That was a quick look at some of the accessories in a list of many that are part of the Genuine Motorcycle Accessories catalogue that Royal Enfield has to offer. For people who like to work on their bike themselves, RE also has well laid out instruction guides on how to fit the parts to your motorcycle along with a list of compatible motorcycles for each accessory. Although some parts might seem expensive, it is nice to see Royal Enfield offer a bunch of useful, bespoke and well-built accessories to their customers. You can check all the accessories available for your RE motorcycle here. https://www.royalenfield.com/in/en/gma/
