TVS has unveiled its new offering in the commuter motorcycle segment, christened Radeon. The commuter motorcycle seeks to target young motorcyclists in rural India.

The motorcycle boasts of a refreshing design with lots of chrome treatment; the silencer is covered in chrome and the speedometer is finished in chrome too. The design tries to combine classic looks with functionality and elements like the petrol tank’s ribbed thigh pads underscoring that.

The Radeon comes with a 110cc engine that produces 8.4bhp at 7000rpm and 8.7Nm of torque at 5000rpm. Equipped with a 10-litre tank, the Radeon is claimed to offer a real world fuel economy of 69.3kmpl. The Radeon also gets Synchronized Braking, a feature that is not available in other competitors in the segment. A side stand indicator is also provided. The 18 inch wheels on the Radeon are also first in segment.

The TVS Radeon focuses on comfort and has the largest cushioned seat in the segment. Also available are features like a smartphone charger and an integrated pillion grab-rail. The telescopic front suspension and the 5-step adjustable rear hydraulic shock absorber reportedly make the bike much more comfortable than its competitors. The high ground clearance of 180mm is expected to help tackle rough roads in rural India. The Radeon can be had in White, Beige, Purple or Black.

Set to be launched very soon, the bike will retail at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 48,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi). TVS expects to sell over 2,00,000 units in the first year of production. The Radeon will go up with the likes of the Hero Splendor Range in this extremely competitive and high volume segment. To bring peace of mind to buyers, the bike will come with a 5-year warranty.
