BMW G 310 GS BS6 launched at Rs 2.85 lakh
The BMW Motorrad G 310 GS has been around for about two years now and was one of the priciest offerings in its segment. It has been refreshed by BMW’s design team to give us the updated BS6 variant, which now features a full LED illumination setup, comprising the head and tail lamps, as well as the indicators. The price has been slashed by Rs 64,000 from the BS4 variant to Rs 2.85 lakh. The special paint schemes – Style Rallye (Kyanite blue metallic) and 40 Years GS (Cosmic black) will cost you an extra Rs 6,000 but are honestly very eye-catching. Apart from this, it will also be offered in Polar White. All of these paint schemes tie in neatly with the frame and subframe, finished in red. For the 2020 model year, the G 310 GS will also get a four-step adjustable clutch lever and brake lever along with ride-by-wire throttle.
Just like its sibling, the G 310 R, the GS packs a 33.5bhp, 28Nm 313cc water-cooled single-cylinder engine, wherein the engine housing covers are painted in titanium grey metallic. It now gets ride-by-wire throttle with idle automatic throttle increase to prevent the bike from stalling. The G 310 GS has a six-speed slipper-clutch enabled transmission.
To lend it with adventure touring capabilities, the G 310 GS has upside-down forks with 180mm of travel and larger 19-inch wheels in the front, compared to the 17-inch unit on the G 310 R. It also has a taller seat than the R, at 835mm off the ground. As for braking, the G 310 GS gets a 300mm front disc operated by a four-piston caliper while the rear has a 240mm rotor with a single-piston caliper, enabled with dual-channel ABS. BMW is also offering a three-year warranty as standard and the motorcycle can be had at a monthly instalment of Rs 5,500.
The new price tag of the G 310 GS undercuts that of the KTM 390 Adventure by Rs 19,000. However, while the Royal Enfield Himalayan makes less power at 24bhp, it is more capable off-road and comes in at Rs 1.91 lakh, costing almost a lakh less than the BMW G 310 GS.
