Jagan Kumar and Rajini Krishnan claim their 10th INMRC titles | 2021 INMRC Round 5 rundown

Round 5 of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2021 concluded this weekend also marks the end of the 2021 season of the INMRC. The season has been filled with adrenaline-packed racing with two veteran racers Rajini Krishnan and Jagan Kumar getting their 10th national championship titles in their respective classes. Here’s a lowdown of all the important action from Round 5 of the INMRC.

Pro-Stock 301-400cc

The final race of the Pro-Stock 301-400cc category saw Rahil Shetty of Gusto Racing claim first place with Anish Damodar Shetty (Race Concepts) coming in a close second, while Rajini Krishnan of RACR Castrol Power1 Ultimate finished third. Although he finished third in the final race, Rajini’s stellar performance through the season meant that he was crowned champion of the class making it his 10th national championship title and also his first in almost a decade.

Pro-Stock 165cc open:

The last race of the Pro-Stock 165cc category saw a 1-2 win for TVS Racing with KY Ahamed and Deepak Ravikumar finishing first and second respectively. Rajiv Sethu of the Idemitsu Honda SK69 Racing team finished the race third. Jagan Kumar who finished the race in fourth place had a sensational ride because he was crowned champion of the class just a day earlier. This was an extremely emotional victory for him because it was his 10th National Championship win as well. TVS Racing had more reason to be elated because apart from Jagan taking top honours, the factory team also won the Team and Manufacturing Championship

Novice 165cc stock:

The Novice 165cc stock class saw a lot of action with both Allwin Xavier and Alwin Sundar putting on stellar shows throughout the race season. In the last race, Allwin Xavier of Sparks racing took the first step on the podium and Alwin Sundar of AS Motorsports bagged second place. Jinendra Kiran Sangave, Xavier’s teammate took third place. But despite finishing the last race first it was not Xavier but Alwin Sundar who was crowned champion. The Team Championship however was awarded to Sparks Racing.

Girls stock 165cc:

In the Girls stock 165cc category, Ryhana Bee of the RACR Castrol Power1 Ultimate team finished first keeping her winning streak going. Lani Zena Fernandez of Speed Up Racing and Ann Jennifer of Sparks Racing took to the second and third step of the podium respectively. Ryhana Bee’s consistent performance all season meant that she was crowned champion in the fourth round itself but despite that, she didn’t back down and continued to dominate. Her team Sparks Racing also won the Team Championship.

TVS One-Make Championship:

Apache RR310 open: In the last race of the season, Amarnath Menon took the first position who was followed extremely closely by Ananthraj P in P2 and Manoj Yesuadiyan took P3. Amarnath Menon not just won the last race but also won the championship.

Rookie (Apache RR200): The kids in the Rookie category put on a stellar show all year proving their mettle race after race. The last race of the weekend and the season saw Chiranth Viswanath take P1, Jinendra Sangave take P2 and KR Tamizhinian take P3. But Jinendra’s noteworthy performance all season meant that he was crowned champion of the first-ever Rookie category.

Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup - NSF 250R

In what are arguably the fastest bikes on the grid the NSF 250R, Sarthak Chavan from Pune had a great last race and took P1 with Kavin Quintal and Mohsin Paramban taking P2 and P3 respectively. But Kavin Quintal winning the first four races of the season meant he won the championship just seven points ahead of Sarthak.

Honda CBR 150

Theopaul Leander took first place in the final race of the season with Siddesh Sawant and Vivek Gaurav finishing second and third respectively. Prakash Kamat took the championship title.

Honda Hornet 2.0

The Hornet 2.0 race bike was recently added to Honda's portfolio and it has fared rather well over the season. The last race of the season saw G Balaji take the top step of the podium while Udayi Prakasha and Shankar Guru took the second and third steps, accordingly. Chennai based racer Kevin Kannan took the ultimate crown of champion for the season in the category.

Round 5 concludes the 2021 season of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship which has been one filled with some intense racing and sportsmanship.
