2021 Ducati XDiavel Dark and XDiavel Black Star launched in India

The Ducati XDiavel Dark undercuts the Diavel 1260 at Rs 18 lakh, while the XDiavel Black Star sits higher than the Diavel 1260 S at Rs 22.6 lakh (ex-showroom)

Ducati has been giving us glimpses of the upcoming XDiavel for quite some time, and today the Ducati XDiavel range finally arrives in the Indian market. The Ducati XDiavel is based on the Diavel 1260 but with subtle styling tweaks and changes to the ergonomics. The Ducati XDiavel will be offered in two different variants, namely the XDiavel Dark and the XDiavel Black Star, with prices starting from Rs xx lakh.

Ducati XDiavel Design

The Ducati XDiavel receives styling tweaks to differentiate itself from the Diavel 1260, with all variants receiving different paint jobs and finishes as well. The XDiavel Dark is finished in matte black and receives matte black treatment on the engine and the frame as well, while the XDiavel Black Star receives an exclusive livery with a grey and black paint scheme, and elements of Ducati red.

A major factor that differentiates the Ducati X Diavel from the Diavel 1260 is the ergonomics. The XDiavel offers a seat height of 750mm, which is lower than the Diavel 1260’s seat height of 785mm. The footpegs are forward set, and they are adjustable up to three different positions with a total of 22.5mm of forward or backward adjustability. Centre-set footpegs and rear-set footpegs are part of an accessory package, while the standard seat and handlebar can also be replaced under the same.

Ducati XDiavel Engine and Chassis

The Ducati XDiavel receives the same 1262cc Testastretta engine as seen on the Diavel 1260, which produces 158bhp and 127Nm of torque and is paired to a 6-speed transmission. The XDiavel receives a tubular steel trellis frame, while suspension duties are performed by 50mm adjustable forks up front (with black anodised sleeves and DLC finishing on the Black Star variant) and a monoshock at the rear with adjustable preload and rebound, along with a 120mm travel at the front, and 110mm travel at the rear on both variants.

The Ducati XDiavel is also unique in the sense that it is the first Ducati to be equipped with a belt drive. The XDiavel sports a 120/70/ZR17 Pirelli Diablo Rosso at the front, and 240/45/ZR17 at the rear with lightweight alloy wheels. Also on offer are Brembo disc brakes on both ends. However, while the XDiavel Dark gets an M4.32 calipers and a PR 18/19 radial master cylinder up front, the XDiavel Black Star gets M50 calipers and a PR 16/19 radial master cylinder. Meanwhile, at the rear both variants feature a 265mm floating caliper disc. The XDiavel weighs 247kgs, while the fuel tank capacity stands at 18 litres.

Ducati XDiavel Features and Technology

These Italian bikes are simply loaded to the gills when it comes to features. The Ducati XDiavel receives ride-by-wire technology, a slipper clutch, launch control, cruise control, different riding modes, a backlit switchgear, and a 3.5-inch TFT colour instrument cluster, while safety features include cornering ABS, power modes and traction control. The LED headlight is standard on all variants, but only the Black Star variant receives daytime running lights.
