One of the most awaited bikes from Ducati’s stable is finally here. The Ducati Diavel 1260, which has got motorcycle communities across the globe drooling over its looks and power, is has been launched with a sticker of Rs 17.7 lakh for the base model and Rs 19.25 lakh for the S variant.

Design of the Ducati Diavel 1260

The Diavel 1260 unmistakably resembles the XDiavel when viewed from the front. The shrouds look muscular and the horseshoe shaped LED DRLs on the 1260 S are quite striking. The radiator shrouds also get built-in LED ‘sweeping’ indicators seen on the new Audis (Ducati’s parent company). The bike also comes standard with Brembo M50 monoblocks.

The engine

The Testasretta DVT 1262cc, L-twin motor now comes in its most aggressive form in the Diavel 1260. It makes 159bhp and 128Nm of torque at 7500rpm. For a 50:50 weight distribution this engine has been moved rearwards. Ducati says that this engine is tuned to deliver linear and sizeable torque at low rpm followed by typical Ducati peaky-ness at higher rpm.

Feature-packed

You get three riding modes to choose from – Urban, Touring and Sport. It also features cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and cruise control. Convenience features include backlit handlebar switches, 3.5 inch TFT colour display, and self-cancelling turn indicators.

What’s different between the 1260 and the 1260 S?

The 1260 gets 50mm Marzocchi front forks along with preload and rebound adjustable monoshocks at the rear. The 1260 S gets 48mm Ohlins fully adjustable front forks with golden finish and Ohlins monoshock at the rear. A quickshifter is standard on the 1260 S while it will be offered as an option on the 1260. Same goes for the Ducati Multimedia System as well. Additionally, the wheels on the S variant are machined alloys, as opposed to the cast units on the Standard variant.
