Suzuki launches GSX-S750 at Rs 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched its middle-weight naked motorcycle, the 2018 GSX-S750 at Rs 7.45 lakh, (ex-showroom, Delhi). Suzuki had already started to accept bookings of the motorcycle a few days ago.

On the launch of the GSX-S750, Satoshi Uchida, managing director of Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “We had made a commitment to launch several new and premium products every year for the Indian market. GSX-S750 is not just the first new offering from Suzuki for the new financial year, but it is also our first product in the sub-1000cc bike segment. As our second CKD model in India, we are confident that the GSX-S750 will further strengthen the ‘GSX’ brand, which is Suzuki’s DNA in motorcycles.”

The motorcycle looks lean, muscular and with its aggressive low set headlamp, it looks menacing. The styling is inspired from its big brother, the GSX-S1000 ABS.  It is powered by a 749cc, inline 4-cylinder, liquid cooled engine that puts out a claimed 113bhp and 81Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is not new as it was first seen in the GSX –R750 motorcycle, which was then tweaked for the GSR750. For the GSX-S750, Suzuki has added ventilation holes to the bottom side of the cylinders to reduce pumping losses. The steel twin spar frame is borrowed from GSR750. Saddle height is a very accessible 820mm. New bits on the motorcycle include a longer swingarm, chain adjustment system and new 10-spoke alloys. It also gets ride-by-wire throttle, three stage traction control that can be turned off and ABS. Front forks are 41mm USD, while the rear is a mono shock unit, both from Kayaba. It gets twin 310mm discs at the front and a single 260mm disc at the rear.

Sajeev Rajasekharan, executive vice president of Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “Suzuki Motorcycle India is renowned for offering some of the most distinguished motorcycles under the GSX-R family, and the GSX-S750 is no exception. The GSX-S750 is designed to dominate, be it with its aggressive styling, comfortable ergonomics or the powerful engine. Every aspect of this streetfighter will enthrall the biking enthusiasts in India.”

The GSX-S750 will go head on against rivals like the Triumph Street Triple S, Kawasaki Z900 and the Yamaha MT-09, which are priced at Rs 9.15 lakh (ex-showroom), Rs 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 9.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The GSX-S750 has the edge over its rivals due to its aggressive pricing. There are two colour options available – a combination of blue/black and red/black. Stay tuned for our first ride impression of the bike.
