2017 Dakar rally: Stage 2 report
Winner of 2016 Dakar Toby Price (Red Bull KTM) finished stage 2 with an overall lead of more than three minutes in the bikes category.
Meanwhile, Aravind KP finished at 127 because of an arm injury and CS Santosh had a relatively better finish for the Hero Motocorp Speedbrain team at 41. Aravind’s team mate Pedrero finished at 11th after having won the stage 1 while Rodrigues from the Hero Motocorp Speedbrain team stood at 22 at the end of stage 2.
The 275km long special stage took place in San Miguel de Tucuman. While the competitors are now in a well-known territory of Argentina as they race here for the 9th consecutive year, the region of Chaco has still been unexplored for the rally. The race was flooded with wild animals and dust, reminiscing of the African Savannah trails. The narrow tracks coupled with extremely high temperatures made it even worse for the participants.
