Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2018 to kick-start on September 30

With a focus on men’s health and to raise awareness on prostate cancer, the ‘Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride’ is all set to take place on September 30.  More than 120,000 men and women astride classic and vintage motorcycles are expected to take part in this ride which will span more than 650 cities worldwide.

Founded by Mark Hawaa in Sydney, Australia in 2012, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has raised more than USD 12.52 million for its fight against prostate cancer and other men’s health related issues. In last year’s DGR ride, more than 70,000 men and women took part in the ride which spanned more than 600 cities in 95 countries to raise awareness and provide funds to treat prostate cancer. The foundation aims to raise USD 6 million in this year’s DGR ride. Successful fundraisers stand a chance to win prizes that include Zenith watches and even a motorcycle from Triumph.

In India, more than 2,000 riders took part in the ride last year, which was organised by Triumph Motorcycles. This is the fifth edition of the DGR in the country and the rider participation has increased this year. So far 3,596 riders have registered for the ride and DGR has raised USD 13,732 for its campaign against prostate cancer in the country. The company has partnered with Movember Foundation for the cause.

Shoeb Farooq, general manager, Triumph Motorcycles India said, “Our shared focus via DGR is harnessing the passionate support of our riders to raise funds for research into prostate cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention programs, as part of the DGR’s mission to support men’s health globally. This year promises to be bigger than ever before and I look forward to a generous show of support from Triumph Riders across India.
