Yamaha might bring an update to the YZF-R3

A Japanese motorcycle magazine, Young Machine reported that Yamaha might be launching a refreshed model of the YZF-R25 next year. The R25 is one of the most loved bikes among a bunch of quarter litre enthusiast bikes that are available in the Indonesian market. This also can be an indication that we could witness similar changes on the YZF-R3 as it bears the same underpinnings as of its ASEAN cousin.

The renders show the new bike will be featuring a new design and look inspired by its elder sibling the YZF-R6. This inspiration can already be seen in the R family’s youngest offering – the YZF-R15 which was launched recently. The design might go on adding in LED DRLs just like the R15. There are strong indications that the motorcycle is expected to come equipped with Variable valve actuation (VVA) technology. This will help it get a stronger low end as it might get bump in the torque figure without sacrificing on the top end performance which it currently boasts of so proudly. As is shown in the images graced here, we also expect the conventional front forks to be replaced by hopefully a slightly stiffer sprung USD unit.

While these changes are shown on the R25, we can be assured that the same will apply on to the R3. Considering there has been no update in the design or performance of the R3 apart from a handful of minor yet important updates like ABS, Metzeler rubber and BSIV compliance, we hope Yamaha brings in this much needed update to India as well. With the entire additional tech included, the prices are likely to rise. However, we are hoping that Yamaha India doesn’t go down the same route as their fellow Japs did with the Ninja 400.
