RMK introduces electric motorcycle with hubless wheel design

Finnish start-up RMK has showcased an electric motorcycle, E2 with a hubless rear wheel. The E2 is available for pre-bookings for international markets only. There are e-bike companies in India like the Emflux and Tork motors, but unfortunately, this motorcycle won’t be making it to our shores. But we couldn’t miss out telling you about the revolutionary bike.

The RMK E2 is an amalgamation of cruiser and roadster styling and ergonomics. This motorcycle is powered by a rear rim-mounted motor with a hubless design. The power is fed via three cables that help the motor deliver 67bhp and an astounding 319.97Nm! Dropping anchor is via twin discs at the front while the rear wheel gets regenerative braking. The bike gets a sophisticated digital instrument cluster with navigation that is mounted on the “tank”.

The bike gets battery options that can give it a range varying from 200 to 300km. The onboard charger will charge the battery to 80 percent in two to three hours. The company is also contemplating to introduce DC charging.

Though electric mobility is still finding its ground in India, we have companies like Ather  and Okinawa on the forefront. The government too is doing its bit to support and has introduced various subsidies, incentives, and many new programmes to promote the use of electric vehicles.
