Honda launches Grazia scooter

Aninda

Words: Team Fast Bikes India

Following the release of the teaser a few days ago, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched the Grazia at a starting price of Rs 57,897, ex-showroom, Delhi. It is powered by a 125cc single cylinder engine with 8.5bhp and 10.54Nm on twist. Front forks are telescopic units, the top-end trim (there are three trim levels to choose from) gets a front disc brake and Honda’s Combi-brake is standard fitment across the range.

But more important to Honda are the scooter’s features, many of which the company said was first-in-segment. Chief among them is the bright and intense LED headlamp. Given the amount of feedback that Honda’s R&D team members wanted on the overall design and that LED headlamp, it won’t be a surprise that sales folk at HMSI dealerships will use that as a USP to get Grazias off their shelves. The other feature that will play a significant role in the scooter’s sales pitch is the three-step Eco mode indicator. Other features include a glovebox as standard fitment (something that has not been the case with previous Honda scooters), a convenient four-in-one lock system and an optional mobile charger.

“In the last 16 years, Honda 2Wheelers India has grown exponentially from a humble 54,000 units in the first year, to 3 lakh+ scooter sales in a single month now. Today every 2nd scooter customer in India is celebrating the freedom of mobility on a Honda scooter. Adding more excitement to the premium scooter segment, the Honda GRAZIA is the most advanced scooter in its category,” said Minoru Kato, CEO and President, HMSI.

Indeed HMSI has had a fantastic couple of months with both August and September seeing sales of more than 6 lakh units. This resulted in HMSI notching up sales of 13.5 lakh units over this festive season and according to HMSI, the introduction of the Grazia at this time is the next logical step in consolidation of the company’s status as the leader of the Indian scooter industry. “As the market leader in automatic scooters, Honda raised the bar further with Grazia – Honda’s next big step of innovation in scooters. Get ready to see the world in a new Light with bright LED headlamp. Many other segment leading features make the Grazia the most advanced urban scooter with great styling and unparalleled convenience,” said Yadvinder Singh Guleria at the launch of the Grazia.
