Kawasaki has been busy lately, launching the 2017 variants of the Ninja 300, Ninja 650, Z650 and the Z900, with new colour schemes and engines meeting the BS IV norms. The company has now launched its most powerful offering in the Z series the, Z1000, at a price tag of Rs 14.49 lakh, the R edition at Rs 15.49 lakh and the smallest, most affordable of the Z series line-up the Z250 at a price tag of Rs 3.09 lakh.  All the prices are ex- showroom Delhi.

The Z1000 gets the same 1043cc, in-line four cylinder engine making 140bhp at 11,000rpm and 111Nm of torque at 7300rpm, the difference being it is now BS IV compliant. The Z1000 also gets a re-mapped ECU, which the company claims will translate into a smoother power delivery. Apart from the engine, the Z1000 comes with a new colour scheme and other features include a gear position indicator on the instrument panel, an adjustable shift-up light on the rev counter, 5 – way adjustable clutch lever,  mirrors for more visibility and an upgraded LCD display as well as ABS. The Z1000 will be available in two guises – the Z1000 STD and the Z1000 R, which sports a new colour scheme and Brembo brakes and Ohilns rear suspension.
At the launch, the Z250 was not put on display. The most affordable of the Z series is powered by the same 249cc, parallel- twin, which is now BSIV compliant making 31.5bhp at 11,000rpm and 21 Nm of torque at 10,000rpm. Like its more powerful sibling the Z250 also comes with a new paint scheme and graphics.
